Ground floor renovation and interior design in Mallorca

LIKE NEW

The home had an outdated look, with dark wood floors and brightly colored walls. It needed to be updated and given the Mediterranean look so desired by the surroundings.

To achieve this goal, all the floors were replaced, choosing a wood-effect porcelain floor in white tones, as the oak-colored doors were to be kept.

The home was designed in a Mediterranean style, with Shabby Chic touches, such as the dressing room and the dividing wall. Neutral tones throughout the home provide a sense of warmth and well-being.

BEFORE

THE LIVING ROOM

Touches of style

White and wood are the perfect base for a warm, timeless feel. To add color to the space, one wall has been painted bay green, and decorative pillows in terracotta, beige, and ecru provide a touch of color.

The family-heirloom mahogany dresser (made in Mallorca) near the entrance adds a touch of personality and style to the living room. As does the custom-made shelving unit.

Since there is no foyer, a custom-made room divider was made from natural wood, like the coffee table and the top panel of the TV stand.

IN THE LIVING ROOM

Decorative cushions from Calma House and Zara Home, a mirror from Natura, a coffee table and TV stand from Banak, and an armchair with footstool and rug from Ikea. Decorative paintings by local artists Ana Pericás and Victoria Gomila.

THE BEDROOM

Calm

The master bedroom was divided into two smaller rooms. The owner wanted a spacious bedroom with access to the porch and to take advantage of the terrace lighting.

The two bedrooms have been combined into one, creating a large dressing room separated from the sleeping area by a column.

To continue taking advantage of the light that entered the master bedroom from the terrace, instead of closing off the door to the second bedroom with a wall, it was decided to install a partition in the purest English style, just like the dressing room.

BEFORE

IN THE BEDROOM

Furniture and headboard by Banak, lamps by Maison du Monde, fabrics from El Corte Inglés and H&M Home, and a rug from Jysk. The dressing room and room dividers were custom-made by a local carpenter.

THE GLAZED PORCH

An exterior but interior space

The house had a very large outdoor terrace, and it was decided to enclose a space to expand the kitchen and accommodate a covered laundry room.

From the kitchen to the porch, there's a zigzag folding door with white panels, following the English style of the bedroom. Accessing the porch, we find two distinct spaces: the dining area with a recycled teak center table and the living area with two chaise lounges.

At the back of the porch, we find the laundry room separated by a wall with built-in shelving and two sliding wooden doors.

ON THE PORCH

Coffee table by Portic Mobles, chairs by Kave Home, Sideboard from El Corte Inglés, cupboard from Banak, sofas from Ikea. Custom-made laundry room by a local carpenter.

THE KITCHEN

A kitchen that breathes light and warmth

This kitchen, designed in a neutral palette, combines functionality and aesthetics with a serene balance. The cashmere-finished cabinetry, featuring delicately framed edges, provides an updated classic look, which blends seamlessly with the durable, yet striking, rough-cut stone countertop.

The entrance to the living room is a piece steeped in history: an antique paneled wooden door, carefully reclaimed, which adds character and authenticity to the space. The kitchen opens generously to natural light thanks to its direct connection to the terrace and porch, allowing the space to breathe and blend with its surroundings.

Small oak wood details dot the room, providing warmth and visual continuity. It's a space designed not only for cooking, but for living: open, welcoming, and full of nuances.
