Comprehensive SCL HOUSING reform

A SECOND LIFE FULL OF LIGHT
We publish this first installment as a preview of the project. We will soon update the full report with final photographs and styling.
Giving a second life to a home from the 50s is always a challenge and an opportunity. In this comprehensive renovation, we transformed a highly compartmentalized space into a warm, bright and functional home for a young couple that now turns it into their first home.
The proposal focused on free the spaces, reorder uses and enhance natural light, working with a Mediterranean palette: floors in earth tones such as marés, soft cream walls, white lacquered carpentry and neutral decorative accents, always seeking warmth, continuity and serenity.
THE HEART OF THE HOUSE: INTEGRATED LIVING ROOM AND KITCHEN
One of the great gestures of the project was to move the kitchen to its location. The original kitchen, small and linked to the laundry, limited circulation and cut off the entry of light. When opened towards the living room, the home changes completely: the spaces dialogue with each other, the views expand and daily life is concentrated around this central core.
The living room gains depth and luminosity, becoming a social space where you can live together, receive and share.
THE KITCHEN: THE TRUE SETTING OF THE HOME
In this renovation, the kitchen takes a leading role. It is organized in a U shape and combines functionality and warmth with very careful language.
The breakfast area has the same color palette: the cashmere tone mixes with oak and black display doors, providing character and personality. An everyday corner that is lived in a special way.
The rest of the kitchen maintains cashmere doors with discreet and elegant nail handles. Some elements are resolved in an oak finish to introduce texture and light: a space designed for cutting boards, a decorative shelf next to the window and a module dedicated to small appliances —Thermomix, air fryer and those essentials that are always difficult to integrate—. An open column of shelves, also in oak, finishes giving rhythm and warmth to the whole.
The rough stone countertop is reminiscent of natural stone and provides a very Mediterranean touch point. Above the bar, two decorative Sklum lamps descend the scale and provide intimacy: the final touch for a space that stops being “just a kitchen” and becomes a true meeting point.
STUDIO AND NEW LAUNDRY
Where the kitchen used to be, a quiet and functional studio now appears. Modular shelves are framed between walls, generating order and structure.
From this space you can access the new laundry room through a sliding glass door. The materials continue the same language: cashmere and stone, reinforcing the feeling of continuity throughout the home.
A bathroom with its own identity
The bathroom gains a few centimeters thanks to the space recovered from the old kitchen, which allows it to be designed more comfortably.
The continuous pavement provides visual unity. The neutral base is combined with a dark green decorative tile that introduces personality. The double sink, indirect lighting and black accessories build a contemporary and young atmosphere. The shower, spacious and with an illuminated niche, completes a bathroom designed for daily use, but with a very special point.
Bedrooms that invite you to rest
The house has two bedrooms: the main one and the guest one. In both, work is done from serenity: integrated curtain rods, white cabinets framed in plasterboard and completely hidden air conditioning vents.
In the master bedroom, Cordonné's Linear Ecru model wallpaper visually lengthens the space and provides a feeling of height. The bed upholstered in cream tones, with a folding sofa and textile headboard, is accompanied by discreet black appliqués. When the wooden furniture pieces arrive, the whole will gain warmth and nuances.
A renovated home, a new way of living
The SCL Housing is transformed without losing its soul. It recovers light, continuity and comfort, and adapts to a more open, connected and Mediterranean way of living.
A renovation that brings life back to the house... and opens a new stage for those who live there.
